The Townsville Bulletin reports today that 'North Queensland's hopes of becoming a world leader in renewable energy generation could founder on short-term commercial thinking' according to a new report from BIS Shrapnel.

The energy users of Mt Isa and the QLD and Federal government are currently considering whether to continue with an isolated generation system or to connect to the National Electricity Grid. If the latter is chosen as recommended by BIS Shrapnel, Windlab's Kennedy Wind Farm will be able to deliver enormous environmental and economic benefits to the area – and enough electricity for the houses of Townsville and Mt Isa combined

Richard Mackie, Windlabs Africa and Asia Manager says: 'Windlab strongly supports BIS Shrapnels' conclusions and urges a decision which allows Queensland to capture its abundant renewable energy resources'.
