Asbestos supply chain issue: Windlab not impacted
Recent media reports have highlighted that asbestos has been detected in certain internal lift brake pads used in some wind turbines. This is an isolated supply chain issue affecting a limited number of internal lift brake pads and is not part of turbine design.
Windlab is not directly affected. Our operational asset has been assessed and confirmed clear of the issue, and turbine components for our upcoming projects are either far from delivery or yet to be procured.
The Clean Energy Council and regulators are leading the coordinated industry response, and compliance measures will be mandatory. Windlab fully supports this approach. This issue will also inform how we assess and manage procurement risks across our future projects.
