This October, Windlab joined workplaces across Australia in the Oceans to Outback Challenge, raising funds to support the life-saving work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

As a proud member of the Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC), we were excited to join them in taking on the challenge, united by a shared connection to regional Australia and a commitment to making a positive difference in the communities where we work.

Together, our team walked, ran, pedalled, and paddled an incredible 4,758 kilometres, surpassing our goal of 3,000 km, and raised a total of $14,379 — well above our $10,000 fundraising target. This placed Windlab 8th on the national workplace leaderboard, a remarkable achievement that highlights the collective drive and generosity of our people.

For Windlab, this challenge was about more than kilometres and donations. It was a chance to reflect on the heart and resilience of the regional communities we work with every day — the same communities the RFDS serves through emergency medical care and essential health services.

As Australia’s clean energy pioneer, Windlab’s projects span both urban and regional areas. We work closely with landholders, Traditional Owners, and local communities to deliver renewable energy that creates long-term social and economic benefits. Supporting the RFDS is one of the ways we can give back to those regions and strengthen the vital connections that sustain them.

“This challenge brought out the best in our people,” said John Martin, CEO of Windlab. “It’s a wonderful reflection of the culture we’ve built — one defined by heart, purpose, and care. Just as we’re committed to powering Australia’s clean energy future, we’re equally committed to supporting the communities that make it possible.”
